Additional information about Aerojet Rocketdyne can be obtained by visiting our websites at and Aerojet RocketdyneA?s System Performance Analysis (SPA) within the Systems Engineering department group supports a complete line of booster and upper stage propulsion systems, focused on safely and reliably launching: (1) expendable space exploration or low:earth orbit, rendezvous vehicles, (2) missile defense upper stage vehicles, and (3) advanced hypersonic vehicles. Current government/commercial vehicles and associated propulsion systems being developed or supported at AR are: the NASA/MSFC SLS (Space Launch System) and the man:rated RS:25 and RL:10 engine, Air Force/Atlas:V payload vehicle and AR1 booster engine, Boeing Upper Stage and CCtCAP man:rated engine, and the Air Force GBI (Ground:Based Interceptor) upper stage and RKV (Redesign Kill Vehicle) engine. We are seeking a Senior Engineer (Level:3) in Systems Engineering who under the general direction of a lead RS:25 SPA engineer can determine approaches to objectives demonstrating a complete understanding and application of general principles, concepts and practices. He/she will join our facility located in Canoga Park, CA. This position may be filled at the level posted or at the next higher level.The successful candidate will support a lead engineer in analyzing and evaluating RS:25 design changes with a focus on Engine Control System hardware and software. The RS:25 system is a pump:fed, staged combustion cycle LOX/LH2 liquid propulsion system derived from the SSME (Space Shuttle Main Engine). The candidate will provide engineering support for RS:25 engine processing at the test/flight field sites as well as tanking activities on test/launch days. The candidate will also support engine hot:fire pre:test and data review activities and coordinate the resolution of technical issues by assembling and leading diverse engineering teams. The candidate would gain some of his/her training through support of the SPA and other technical disciplined teams which supports the cited lead engineer above. The SPA team focuses on supporting engine system tests and future flight needs through e.g. fluid dynamic/control system modeling and steady:state power balance analyses. Initial on:the:job training assignments will support various activities including the following (with estimated percentage times): 40. . .The candidate would coordinate the resolution of Engine Control System technical issues by assembling and leading diverse engineering teams. Preparing and presenting technical briefings will also be required. 30...The candidate would provide assistance with the development the RS:25 hardware and software requirements for the RS:25 system, and evaluate the effectiveness of design changes by reviewing available engine hot:fire data. 15. . .The candidate would be asked to support the technical lead e.g. with RS:25 ECU (Engine Controller Unit) hardware/software requirements and ensuring the interface control documents between the RS:25 engine and vehicle are consistent and complete. 15. . The candidate would be asked to support Stennis Space Center test facility personnel and would potentially need to visit the test site in Mississippi. Similar activity may be required at the launch facility at Kennedy Space Center. The successful candidate must have a BS degree (MS degree preferred) in Engineering within one of the follow engineering majors: Aerospace, Mechanical, Chemical, Civil or related major) and five (5) years relevant working experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
