The Mission Assurance Engineering Specialist will function as a recognized authority for Mission Assurance (MA) at the Aerojet Rocketdyne Los Angeles and Sacramento facilities, planning, conducting, reviewing and developing solutions to critical/controversial problems that have an important effect on significant Aerojet Rocketdyne programs. This position will provide coordination and technical direction across the Mission Assurance functional area and will be an independent advocate to the Program Manager, effectively operating as the Risk Manager for a program or multiple programs while providing independent oversight of technical execution of programs to ensure 100 mission success of Aerojet Rocketdyne supplied hardware. This current opening may be filled at this level as posted or at one level higher.30 : Has responsibilities of coordinating the technical efforts in executing a Systems Engineering approach to Mission Assurance (MA) with emphasis on proactive Risk Management throughout the various large space engine and missile defense program life:cycles. Lead and prepare MA program engagement plans, in conjunction with program management, which defines and allocates requirements. Plan, conduct and technically direct major phases of significant projects related to MA execution priorities, coordinating efforts of technical staff as required. Ensure effective execution of the programA?s Risk Management process for assigned programs/product lines. Provide in:depth technical assessments of key program issues, coordinating as necessary with senior engineering and operations leadership and customers. May maintain the Program Risk Register and facilitate the Program Risk Board meetings for assigned programs. Prepare/approve technical presentations, engineering reports, failure analyses, problem dispositions for technical, cost, schedule and program impact. 30 : Lead process audits and assessments of program team processes to identify Mission Assurance concerns, assure that root causes are understood, and timely/effective corrective and preventive actions are defined. Provide technical consultation to technical staff and review appropriate DFMEAs/PFMEAs generated on assigned programs for adequacy and recommend updates as deemed necessary. Work with Engineering functional counterparts to lead the development, integration, and utilization of Lessons learned enterprise database to capture, document and share appropriate lessons learned, including assessment against program risk registers for potential impact as appropriate. 10 : Contributes to program development, and support and approve Flight Readiness/Mission Assurance Reviews. Participate as an independent reviewer or voting member in internal/customer Design Reviews and Critical Reviews (Facility, Experiment and Program). 10 : Act as primary point of contact for assigned Aerojet Rocketdyne program to the customers Mission Assurance organization to assure timely reporting/resolution of Mission Assurance concerns. 10 : Perform weekly reviews of Mission Assurance concerns with Aerojet Rocketdyne functional team leads and Mission Assurance/technical representatives. Secondary Job Functions:10 : Work with Engineering and Operations to implement proven tools, such as Six Sigma/Lean Manufacturing techniques and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to reduce cycle time, improve yield, and reduce non:conformances (NC).Requires a Bachelors degree in appropriate discipline/science and 9 years of directly related technical experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (requires U.S. Citizenship). Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information. Having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.
