Performs engineering to design, analyze, test, evaluate and modify DC motors, electro:mechanical devices and components focusing on motor design. As related to new designs and prototypes:Supervise the motor product design process.Review and analyze technical requirements from customers and prospective customers.During project proposal phase, complete A?pre:designsA? (and strive for competitive advantage).Write technical proposals that accurately convey to the intended reader the benefits and advantages of our designs.Provide preliminary costing information for new designs.Directs and coordinates activities necessary to complete assigned engineering projects.Model designs (electrical, magnetic, mechanical)Oversee electronic designs on assigned projects.Lead the selection of purchased components.For assigned projects oversee:Generation of mechanical designs and layouts.Generation of engineering drawings.Prototype builds.Lead development and validation testing. Verify specification conformance of designs and inform management about where there is significant uncertainty or risk.Assist manufacturing engineering in tool design.Conduct design reviews.Lead qualification testing.Provide intensive and proactive technical support to manufacturing as they begin production on any new design (development, prototyping, pre:production and pilot production phases).Provide technical support throughout the terface with customers/prospects regarding technical matters.Ensure engineering documents are updated, as required.Contribute to the development and refinement of processes used in manufacturing the product. Apply initiative and imagination to new product developments and product enhancements.MasterA?s degree and seven to ten years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience; or as deemed appropriate by the Senior Management of ResMed Motor Technologies.Motor disc drive design and sensing experience Ability to use sound and vibration equipment.Knowledge of motor and/or rotary componentsMust have a minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing organizationGood verbal and written communication skills. Ability to use structural finite element software such as Cosmos or Ansys. Is innovative. Ability to work with a team and interface with other departments Travels, both domestically and internationally, as required, to coordinate activities among stakeholders and customers.
