Under general direction and following established procedures the Material Handling Engineer (MHE) primary responsibility is the entire process of handling Aerojet Rocketdyne Los Angeles Products. Responsibilities include technical and factory support, standard process and procedure definition, audit support, training curriculum development and delivery. This engineer is the Los Angeles site subject matter expert and representative to engine programs.Day:to:day responsibilities will include the following: 40 : Develop, input and maintain material handling instructions for program critical hardware and material handling procedures for the site.Review and approve all new material handling instructions.Assist programs on developing work instructions to conduct lifts incorporating training, tooling, and number personnel required.Review released material handling instructions for current readiness.Support technical reviews material handling drawings.40 : Provide technical support to the factory.Perform risk assessments and approve lift plans for difficult items.Lead investigations and corrective actions for any material handling issues on the site.Review material handling devices and specialty tooling for proper application and purchase.20 : Develop and deliver training.Develop and maintain current training curriculum for the site.Train factory personnel on material handling procedures.Requires a Bachelors degree or higher in Manufacturing/Industrial Technology or Engineering and at least five (5) years of experience in support of aerospace product and material handling tasks or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional Requirements:Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (requires U.S. Citizenship). Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information. Having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.Must be able to read and interpret drawings, assist in preparation of factory layout plans, and develop cost estimates.Nust be able to thrive in a team environment, work independently, and embrace continuous improvement.Personal skills continuously utilized to execute responsibilities:Excellent verbal and written communication, including public anizational/Multi:tasking skills that enhance value stream flow and ensure product value streams are effective at meeting customer and company goals.Team building skills : develop relationships across value stream and enabling department resources to effectively manage product value stream.The ability to favorably impact and influence across all organizations. Work Environment/Physical Requirements:The work environment may require a combination of indoor and outdoor activity (hot, cold, wet, humid conditions) with a varied amount of walking, standing, sitting, climbing (i.e. ladders, stair, scaffolding, ramps), balance (maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces), bending, reaching, handling/fingering (seizing, holding, grasping, turning picking, pinching), stooping, kneeling, crouching and ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 pounds.
