Additional information about Aerojet Rocketdyne can be obtained by visiting our websites at and Aerojet Rocketdyne seeks a Quality Process Engineering Intern to join our facility in Canoga Park, California (Los Angeles area).Under close supervision, the intern will support the Quality Process Engineering Organization with an emphasis on supporting the non:destructive testing group through the following: 50 : Work closely with the nondestructive testing (NDT) Level 3s in identifying and implementing process improvements in nondestructive inspection (radiography, digital radiography, computed tomography, penetrant inspection, ultrasonic inspection). 30 : Creating and releasing process documentation and process specifications. 20 : Providing general support to NDT personnel on inspection methodologies, technique development and documentation.Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelors (preferably at Sophomore/Junior level) or Masters degree in a related discipline such as Physics, Mechanical, Quality Engineering. US Citizenship is required. As a Government Contractor, this position requires the employee to have access to premises which are, OR requires the employee to perform duties that are, subject to national security requirements of the United States under government contracts that impose US Citizenship requirements for such positions. Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information. Having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement. Additional Requirements:Minimum GPA of 3.0.Must demonstrate exceptional written and verbal communication skills, be proficient in the use of PC, internet, intranet and electronic office applications.Must be adept at taking direction, work well with teams and be customer focused.Demonstrated ability to perform on task and follow up on assignments. Must be able to handle multiple projects at the same time and have basic project management skills.Safe work practices, proper ethics and attention to detail are required. Candidate must work with moderate guidance on projects with short:term focus. This position requires a positive attitude and personal interaction with various team members and customers. Work Environment/Physical Requirements:The work environment may require a combination of indoor and outdoor activity (hot, cold, wet, humid conditions) with a varied amount of walking, standing, sitting, climbing (i.e. ladders, stair, scaffolding, ramps), balance (maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces), bending, reaching, handling/fingering (seizing, holding, grasping, turning picking, pinching), stooping, kneeling, crouching and ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, employees may work around variable noise levels. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. May also be required to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer. Ability to distinguish colors may also be necessary. Some employees may be required to drive between various locations within the Company facility or between locations. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
