This position supports Aerojet RocketdyneA?s growing Component Product Engineering organization and reports to the Systems, Interconnects and Pressure Vessels Manager. This position performs development, fabrication and test of rocket engine system interconnect hardware. Candidate will operate from the Los Angeles, CA engineering office.25 : Development and fabrication support of rocket engine components using engineering and scientific principles. 25 : Translates engineering and scientific concepts from preliminary ideas through product life cycle. 20 : Interfaces with other members of project or program teams, management and technical staff to define and implement engineering solutions to meet group, organization and company objectives. 10 : Develops trade studies, design concepts, systems integration and component:level test plans. 10 : Supplier integration with external vendors. 10 : Analyzes and verifies product design and performance for adequacy and reliability. Supports investigation and resolution of hardware and process anomalies and issues identified by preventative action/corrective action boards or safety initiative activities.Requires a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering or related engineering/scientific discipline and 2 years of experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience). Must be a self:starter. A demonstrated basic understanding of manufacturing processes, materials and engineering analysis is required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (requires U.S. Citizenship). Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information. Having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement. Hands:on experience with mechanical systems is strongly preferred (aerospace, automotive, aircraft or machinery). Experience with liquid rocket engines a plus. Work Environment/Physical Requirements:Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit and to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 15 pounds; may require minimal walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
