In this role, you will be involved with the development, fabrication and test of rocket engine combustion devices hardware. This current opening may be filled at this level as posted or at one level higher.Under general direction, the Component Product Engineer determines approaches to objectives demonstrating a complete understanding and application of engineering principles, concepts, and practices. 25 : Development and fabrication support of rocket engine combustion devices components. Translates engineering and scientific concepts from preliminary ideas through full product life cycle. 25 : Supplier integration with external vendors. Prepares statement of work, specifications, fabrication and test plans. Coordinates engineering requirements. 20 : Interfaces with other members of project or program teams, management, and technical staff to provide coordination of technical, schedule and cost solutions to team objectives. 20 : Evaluates and verifies product design and performance for adequacy and reliability. Supports investigation and resolution of hardware and process anomalies and issues identified by preventative action/corrective action boards or safety initiative activities. 10 : Develops trade studies, design concepts, systems integration and component:level test plans.Requires a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related field and 2 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (requires U.S. Citizenship). Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information. Having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement. Preferred Qualifications:Experience with liquid rocket propulsion systems desired.Experience working an equivalent engineering design/devleopment environment is desired. Work Environment and Physical Requirements: Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit and to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 15 pounds; may require minimal walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
