CIBA Insurance Services, established in 1993, provides commercial real estate insurance programs to property owners, managers, and associations. Our mission is to continue to be the industry leader in providing owners and managers of commercial real estate comprehensive and competitively priced programs for risk management.

We are currently seeking a Loss Prevention Consultant to perform in:depth surveys of basic to moderately:complex habitational, commercial and industrial properties (i.e.: apartments, condominiums, retail, offices, warehouses and light manufacturing facilities) in the Southern California area. This position is for an individual or company to perform loss control surveys on a contract basis.

Duties and Responsibilities

:Travel to site and obtain survey information on occupancy, construction, protection and exposures through interviews and physical inspection of the property.
:Write analytical reports to present findings based on observations and information received, make verbal and written recommendations to address physical and operational deficiencies noted, and to improve risk desirability.
:Produce supporting documentation such as photos, tax data and building diagrams (if needed).
:Follow up with client in person or by telephone as needed.
:Strategically manage workload and expenses.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

:Basic knowledge of loss control engineering practices and appropriate codes, standards, regulations and principles.
:General understanding of construction materials, methods and processes.
:Excellent verbal and written communication skills for proposing and achieving compliance with recommendations made to address potential loss issues.
:Ability to write clear and concise reports, letters, memos and emails.
:Ability to analyze technical information such as diagrams, drawings, blueprints, MSDS, and other documentation such as lease agreements, COIs, CC and Rs
:Basic computer knowledge, MS Office (Word and Outlook), digital camera, measuring wheel and other field tools as required.
:Knowledge of basic safety precautions in completing field work; e.g., knowing when personal protective equipment or special care is necessary.
:Physical ability to work outdoors, walk up to 2 miles, climb low levels of stairs and ladders, and work on elevated areas such as platforms and roofs.
:Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle and travel as needed.
:Ability to establish priorities, use time wisely, work independently and attain objectives and goals with a minimum of supervision.
:Motivational and analytical skills necessary to take on special projects as requested.

Requirements

Bachelors degree with emphasis in risk management, fire science, safety, construction, architecture or engineering, or a minimum of 5 years of relevant field experience.
:At least 2 years of experience in loss control and/or building inspections.
:The successful candidate must be willing to submit to a background check.
