Position Summary:

The Kitchen Manager is responsible for managing all functions of the kitchen during opening, mid or closing shifts. Key responsibilities include hiring, managing, supervising and training kitchen team members and ensuring guests have a great dining experience.


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Operational Execution
    • Perform Open/Mid-Day/Closing duties
    • Conduct daily briefings on matters of importance to the team
    • Manage necessary repair and maintenance issues
    • Manage the safety & sanitation audit process and rectify issues in a timely manner
    • Ensure that all equipment is kept clean and kept in excellent working condition through personal inspection and by following the restaurant’s preventative maintenance programs.
    • Team up and proactively plan all on and off-site parties/special events with GM and Party/Catering Sales Coordinator
    • Fully understand and comply with all federal, state, county and municipal regulations that pertain to health, safety and labor requirements of the restaurant, employees and guests.
  • Quality Assurance/Cost Control/Financial Profit
    • Ensure safety & sanitation policies and procedures are followed at all times
    • Work closely with the General Manager to control purchases, costs and inventory; negotiates prices with vendors; reviews and evaluates usage reports; analyzes variances; takes corrective actions as needed. 
    • Monitor and validate daily prep production
    • Prepare and receive orders of food and beverages
    • Conduct weekly inventories to ensure that proper levels are stocked and to assess ordering patterns and changes
    • Conduct shift line checks prior to guest service and rectify any quality issues with appropriate team members
    • Monitor and validate proper food quality and execution throughout shift 
    • Schedule and monitor appropriate staffing levels according to business needs
  • Team Member Relations
    • Foster a fun, happy environment; recognize team members and demonstrate a positive, consistent management style 
    • Create on-going training & development opportunities for staff members 
    • Coach, mentor and make recommendations to GM concerning promotions of exemplary team members 
    • Monitor and ensure wage, hours, rest and meal break laws are followed with the guidance/approval of the GM
    • Make hiring, disciplinary and termination actions with the  guidance/approval of the GM
  • Recipe Execution and Guest Satisfaction
    • Monitor and ensure recipes are adhered to Giggles N' Hugs standards every shift
    • Ensure guest orders are prepared correctly and in a timely manner 
    • Remake/correct/replace any returned food orders quickly to avoid guest disatisfaction 

Necessary Skills and Requirements:

  • A minimum of two years culinary and two years kitchen management experience
  • Current ServeSafe Certification 
  • Knowledge of Health Department laws and inspection procedures
  • High personal integrity, professionalism and maturity; lead by example, take accountabilty and are results oriented
  • Passionate commitment to quality and guest service
  • Conscientious attention to detail and follow-up
  • Ability to motivate and direct team members and work effectively with the entire management team
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment

  • Ability to stand and walk for up to 10 hours
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 10 pounds daily, 50 pounds regularly and 100 pounds on occassion
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and raise arms above head on occasion

Pay Rate: $10-$15
