Today, our staff : a force for nature : work out of offices in New York, Washington DC, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Bozeman, Montana and Beijing.Position Summary: NRDC is seeking a Staff Attorney or Policy Analyst to work with the Water Program in our Santa Monica office. The successful candidate will be expected to play an important role in formulating and implementing NRDCA?s efforts to advocate stormwater capture, pollution control and sustainable water policies in California and to advance policies addressing the water:related impacts of climate change. The successful candidate will collaborate with a team of attorneys, policy analysts and other staff engaged on these issues within the Water Program as well as across the organization and with key partners. Reviewing and analyzing current federal, state and local stormwater programs and climate resilience strategies, and promoting relevant innovationsLegislative and regulatory advocacy relating to stormwater, water supply augmentation and climate resiliency opportunitiesPursuing and/or supporting litigation in state and federal court where necessary to achieve our programmatic objectivesAdvocating at the local and national level for the use of green infrastructure, stormwater capture and improved infrastructure financing as important water quality and water supply toolsPromoting increased integration of water quality and water supply planningSupervising the work of contractors and internsTravel necessary to implement work plan objectives in national and local areas of focusLaw degree or advanced degree in public policy, water resources, engineering, or a related subjectMinimum of 1:3 years work experience in a related fieldKnowledge of water policies, including stormwater issues and the intersection between climate change and waterStrong advocacy experience on environmental issuesExcellent oral and written communication skillsExperience in building collaborations with non:traditional allies and in working with local, state or federal water agenciesStrong interpersonal skills and the ability to work as a member of a team to build upon strengths of the programNRDC is committed to workplace diversity and inclusion.
