The Youth Policy Institute seeks an Assistant Director of the Workforce Department to manage the day:to:day operations of adult workforce programs throughout the Northeast San Fernando Valley. The Assistant Director will support adults with needed skills to transition into employment. The Assistant Director is responsible for ensuring services are accessible, high quality and align with overall department outcomes. The Youth Policy Institute operates three employment centers (WorkSource Center, North Hollywood Day Labor Center and Van Nuys Day Labor Center) that offer a full range of assistance and services under one roof to adult job seekers, workers who have been laid off, incumbent workers, new entrants to the workforce, veterans, people with disabilities and employers. The Assistant Director will provide critical support to the Director to ensure the effectiveness of the program. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to: Provide overall support and oversight of grants and programs under the Workforce Department. Provide supervision to management:level staff members; indirect oversight for up to 20 additional staff members located throughout the 3 centers.Oversee performance management for each grant and program, which includes creation of tools, benchmarks, action plans and training of staff.Create reports for grant and programs, following funder and Executive Team deadlines and formats.Support with the build:out of new programs and initiatives.Create and maintain both internal and external partnerships and collaborations that support the mission of the agency and program specific outcomes.Manage all staff to include hiring, training, developing and disciplinary action to lead team towards results.Review outcomes and provide evaluation reports to Director.Conduct performance yearly evaluations and maintain an accurate supervisory log for reference.Support the management of grant budgets, outcomes and reporting.Establish effective relationships with private, non:profit and community partners.Administer MOU contracts with private, non:profit and community partners.Work closely with Development Team on all grant proposals for the Workforce Department.Handle other duties as assigned. Bachelor degree in social work or related field required.2 or more years of management level experience operating one or more programs in a nonprofit environment.Extensive written and verbal communication skills.Exceptional organizational skill; attention to detail; ability to prioritize; ability to meet deadlines; ability to multi:task; strong problem:solving ability.Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of a team.Leadership experience working with community social service and health organizations strongly preferred.Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).Bilingual Spanish is desirable.Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) knowledge preferred.Must be able to work some evenings and weekends.If applicable, will be required to present current California driver license, proof of acceptable driving record (DMV H:6 printout), and liability auto insurance.Experienced in delivering adult services in a nonprofit or private sector.Knowledge of principles and processes for providing outstanding customer service. Strong analytical skills.Self:starter organized and detail:oriented. Must be flexible and able to adapt to changing priorities.Ability to work effectively as a team member. Ability to communicate openly and effectively with all staffAbility to maintain composure even in very difficult situations.
