Caregiver & Home Health Aide - 12+ Years experience
My experience includes caring for a variety of patients/clients with different challenges and needs: quadriplegics; paraplegics; chronic illnesses; young and elderly; developmental disabilities; Alzheimer's; and Hospice care. I have performed skin and wound care, urinary catheterization, organizing and administering meds/shots, bowel care, stoma care, bed baths, normal bathing and hygiene, ROM physical therapy/full range of motion, experience with transferring sometimes heavier patients (generally no need for lift with leverage and pivot technique), licensed driver (van/bus with ramp), muscle stimulation ("stem machine"), progress charting, shopping/errands/meal prep, laundry, and "assisted travel"- both cross country and overseas. I have also worked in a hospital and for multiple Home Health Agency's (see below) as a certified Home Health Aide and certified Nurses Assistant (CHHA & CNA) making intermittent visits in-home; following doctors charts as per specific treatment prescription of patient/client care. Also to note that some periods of my work were performed as a "live-in".
I have a current CA driver license with a clean record, reliable car, insurance, and I am a U.S. citizen. I have adhered to a strict code of confidentiality with everyone I have worked with, and professional discretion when it comes to their personal lives. I have excellent work ethics, I do not take drugs nor do I have any history of alcohol abuse, nor any felonies and a background check is welcomed. I am also pet friendly.
Please note: the actual "CHHA" and "CNA" certification has lapsed although these skills are "second nature" to me, and I can also learn new things quickly and efficiently. I have recently updated Heartsaver/CPR/FirstAid/A.E.Defibrillator Certification. I also have experience in "personal assistance" and can take care of many other day to day needs of my client, ranging from computer work and typing (60wpm), online purchasing, errand running etc. For a full list of these type of things, please ask.

*PLEASE NOTE: For the privacy of my clients, I have not listed their numbers,

C. Coltrane [Assistant & Home Health Aide] (Part & Full Time) 2006 - Present
Duties: Wide range of duties; driving client to doctors appointments and other locations, shopping, multiple daily reminders
on meds etc, and a wide variety of "personal assistance" duties such as house organization, administrative and
computer work, product purchases, errand running, assistance on overseas trips, and a variety of other activities.

From my own personal experience, and in spending so much time in the lives of those with whom I have worked, I am quite aware of the following; it is difficult for the client to find a good attendant with integrity. For example, as I have worked with many quadriplegics who absolutely depend on their attendants, I've seen unreliable attendants not even show up, or stealing, or driving the client while under the influence, or personally using the client's meds to support their own addictions etc. All this to say; I respect human lives, and genuinely care for my clients well-being.
Also as a side-note: Since music is therapeutic and healing, I have at times been known to play guitar if clients so desire. ...Michael
