Youth Policy Institute (YPI) is seeking an experienced S.T.E.M. Coach to facilitate activities for groups of elementary, middle and high school students enrolled in YPIA?s expanded learning programs. The S.T.E.M. Coach will work directly under the supervision of the Site Coordinator. Responsibilities include: Plan and facilitate S.T.E.M activities with groups of twenty students.Supervise all participants to ensure a safe learning environment and organized program.Maintain accurate daily attendance records.Attend weekly and/or bi:weekly staff meetings and anize, develop, and coordinate special S.T.E.M events/activities to promote S.T.E.M initiatives and showcase student work.Employ a variety of technology:based instructional techniques to promote learning, creativity, and itiate new programs that support the departmentA?s vision.Prepare students for YPIA?s annual S.T.E.M. showcase.Collaborate with afterschool staff and school teachers to increase student academic success and quality program.Adhere to workplace safety guidelines.Adhere to tutor/student boundaries as outlined in Code of Conduct.Attend required staff meetings, trainings and events on and off:site.Plan and submit lesson plans on a weekly basis.Must wear YPI uniform while on duty.Perform other duties as assigned.High school diploma, general education diploma (GED); copy will be requested, if hired.Pass a basic written English/Math assessment at the time of the interview or during the application process.Must be currently enrolled in college, having completed or working toward the completion of Freshman English, College math (Algebra II) and/or equivalent math credits. Copy of transcript will be requested, if hired.Minimum one year paid or volunteer experience in S.T.E.M tutoring/mentoring fort and experience with various hardware and software platforms.Ability to assist students with academic terest in any of the following: science, technology, engineering or mathematics.Ability to work independently and within a team environment as needed.Ability to interface and interact with varied audiences (students, parents, YPI staff, school administrators and teachers).Must have access to reliable transportation to arrive to work site at scheduled time consistently. If applicable, will be required to provide proof of current California driver license, acceptable driving record (current DMV H6 printout), and current liability auto insurance.Bilingual (English/ Spanish) is a plus.Must pass a criminal background check (Live Scan fingerprinting) prior to beginning employment.Must present proof of negative Tuberculosis skin test (Mantoux) prior to beginning employment dated within 60 days.Must complete CPR/First Aid certification within 90 days of employment.Some evenings and/or weekends may be required.Part:time partial year. Primarily after school. Hours vary per school site.
