Position Summary:
Run Simulations and analysis on high level acoustic concepts and ideas to drive new directions, innovative ideas and advanced concepts. Work with engineers to identify the most applicable and promising ideas to pursue the paths from concept to first prototype. Work includes acoustic waveguides, manifolds, material selections, box geometry and component layouts. Share mechanical design files and conduct acoustical performance trials for prototypes, analyze and report results. Support JBL engineering team with new product design decisions, methods, processes and analysis tools.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position does not have any direct or indirect reports.
Job Responsibilities:
: Drive BMA/FEA simulation and documentation for new concepts and designs to specific acoustic goals.
: Create reports and analysis for the engineering design teams to use as guidelines as needed.
: Work closely with the engineering managers to identify use cases, define product requirements and specifications for loudspeakers.
: Work with other engineering groups to design, prototype, test and document new concepts and benchmark against existing methods.
: Define criteria
: Perform tests on speaker components and complete systems to include power handling, impedance, transfer function, frequency response and polar response.
: Leverage acoustic simulation programs to virtually design and analyze results to incorporate validate new designs and design improvements.
: Understand supplier and manufacturing limitations, tolerances and costs to drive executable ideas within 5 years time.
Basic Qualifications:
: Bachelor's degree in electrical or acoustical engineering or associated technical field.
: Six years experience designing and testing professional loudspeaker systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
: Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Acoustics
: Experience with Acoustic Analysis using COMSOL or other FEA/BEM software
: Experience in the development and tuning of powered loudspeakers and systems
: Experience with Vertical Line Array Concepts and design variables
: Experience in setting up and identifying network devices
: Understanding and familiarity in development of embedded and/or application software

: Willingness to travel.
: Willingness to work in an office in Northridge, CA
