Job Description:/h3:
Reports to Associate Executive Director
Implement and oversee the administration of sports, fitness and recreation programs and activities
Implement and oversee core sports, fitness and recreation programs, including flag football, basketball, baseball/softball, soccer, and sailing program
Serve as a group leader for summer program
Provide monthly program reports for various programs
Establish sports, fitness and recreation based program objectives consistent with organizational goals and objectives
Oversee the provision of day:to:day sports, fitness and recreation based program activities in accordance with established standards and goals
Ensure that members are encouraged to participate in a variety of sports; fitness and recreation based program areas/activities and receive instruction and constructive feedback to develop skills.
Demonstrate leadership to assure conduct, safety and development of members.
Allocate and monitor work assigned to program volunteers and staff
Oversee proper record keeping and reporting including activities and events conducted breakdowns of daily participation figures, notable achievements and any problems/issues.
Implement Triple Play and Healthy Habits program
Oversee all club member general fitness activities including community walks
Provide monthly reports
Increase visibility of Club programs via posting of daily schedule, announcements of upcoming events and the dissemination of timely information for the development of advertising and promotion through mailings, fliers and media releases.
Maintain contact as needed with external community groups, schools, members parents and other to assist in resolving problems.
Four year degree in related field from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience.
Must be at least 25 years of age and poses a valid drivers license
A minimum of two years of work experience in a Boys and Girls Club or similar organization planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of young people.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Group leadership skills, including an understanding of group dynamics.
Demonstrated organizational, staff and project management abilities.

BGCV was established as a VISTA project on Venice Beach in 1967, and since then we have grown significantly. Today we operate at three sites: our main facility, the James A. Collins Unit, and satellite sites at Venice High School and at Mark Twain Middle School.
