The ideal candidate will be responsible for system design, rapid prototype development, and implementation and will have a balance between analytical ability and practical implementation on hardware systems.Collaborate with electrical and mechanical engineers on the hardware design and implementation processTroubleshoot, performance tune, and optimize embedded systems in a production environmentUnderstand hardware and software interactionsPerform all phases of software development: requirements, design, implementation, verification, and release, which includes testing and supportDevelop embedded C/C++ applications/firmwareDevelop and execute test proceduresDevelop supporting design documentationAll other duties as assigned Active Top Secret Clearance requiredBS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics or equivalent and 3+ years of experience preferredExpertise in design of embedded software systems languageKnowledge of device drivers for interfacing control systems and sensing hardwareStrong programming skills in C and C++ for real:time control and sensor processingExperience with broad bringup and programming and debugging microcontroller based systemsFamiliarity with debugging tools such as bus analyzers and oscilloscopesKnowledge of peripheral buses like I2C and SPIExperience in networking and peripheral interfacesDemonstrated knowledge of rapid prototyping, debugging and problem solving skillsStrong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to create strong working relationships with cross:functional teamsRobotics background is a plus
