The Construction Trainer will oversee daily program operations, including oversight of the educational component, work:experience (apprenticeship) in the construction industry, placement, counseling, leadership development, graduate programs, and follow:up model. Responsibilities may include but are not limited toInstruct participants in a classroom settingProvide training to participants on the Multi:Craft Core Certificate Training (MC3)Provide instruction on social and historical concepts related to the American construction workerProvide instruction on employability and job skillsAssist in the teaching of construction skillsAssist in personal and vocational counseling and development of traineeA?s leadership skills in conjunction with other YouthBuild staffAssist in the evaluation of student knowledge and skills in construction.Schedule participant appointments, including reminders and follow ups using various contact methods including but limited to phone calls, emails, field visits.Maintain the required participant progress documentationKeep daily attendanceEffectively manage classroom to enhance student learningCreate classroom environment that encourages and supports learningParticipate in staff meetings, professional development and other department and grant based trainings/programs as requested.Prepare and submit reports on a timely basisCoordinate with Program Managers, Case Managers, and other team members to promote effective educational goalsAssist in development and coordination of special project and programs.Demonstrate knowledge and ability to set and maintain boundaries in support of agency/department code of conduct.Meet individual and programmatic benchmarks and outputs.Implement a youth:centered, trauma informed and strength based model of practiceMaintain a professional attitude, confidentiality, and respect cultural differences.Participate in the development of project:based curriculum that includes constructionReport all data into the Management Information System (MIS) in a timely mannerHigh School Diploma or EquivalencyBachelorA?s Degree preferredMulti:Craft Core (MC3) Certified preferredMinimum of five (5) years work experience in construction or related field preferredFlexible, energetic, positive individual with commitment to youth development in a high quality, respectful environmentAbility to establish rapport and relate sensitively to a multiracial and multicultural group of young people and staffExcellent oral and written communication skillsAble to work in a fast:paced environment, multi:task and prioritize.Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)Bilingual/Spanish preferredMust pass a criminal background check (Livescan fingerprinting), with both the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), prior to beginning employment.Must present proof of negative Tuberculosis skin test (Mantoux) prior to beginning employment dated within 60 days.Must have access to reliable transportation to travel between sites. If applicable, will be required to provide proof of current California driver license, acceptable driving record (current DMV H6 printout), and current liability auto insurance.
